What Is Corporate Finance and How Can It Help My Business?

August 2018

We’re extremely fortunate to have an in-house corporate finance team here at Aston Shaw. Since the department was formed just over two years ago they have helped many of our clients to achieve their business goals, having already looked at and assisted with applications in excess of £80M. But what exactly is corporate finance? It’s a bit of a loose term, but it could be exactly what your business needs to progress.

What is Corporate Finance?

As mentioned above, corporate finance is rather a loose term, it is also a very broad one. In short, corporate finance concerns itself with raising capital to support, develop, grow or acquire a business.

There are many ways in which capital can be raised, making corporate finance a multi-service area. Here at Aston Shaw, for example, our corporate finance team can become involved in Commercial Property Lending, Development Finance, Bridging, Business Loans and Asset Finance & Refinance.

Perhaps the best way to explain what corporate finance is to showcase some examples:

How Could My Business Benefit from Corporate Finance?

Often, the only way to kickstart growth is via an injection of capital. Corporate finance does exactly that, it finds the best means of financing the aspirations you have for your business.

A corporate finance professional worth their salt has access to a vast network of funders, as well as the in-depth knowledge necessary to identify the best deal for an individual’s circumstances. These are the skills and resources that non-professionals simply don’t possess.

If you know that your business would run more efficiently and profitably if it had a certain piece of equipment or had a larger premises, then it is very likely that corporate finance services are exactly what you need.

If you would like to find out if our corporate finance team can help you realise your business goals, then please get in touch. You can call Justin or Tom on 01603 616300 for an informal chat or email them at justin.lavery@astonshaw.co.uk or tom.freeman@astonshaw.co.uk.
