Aston Shaw Partners with Inn Training

February 2021

Aston Shaw are supporting businesses employing candidates through the government’s Kickstart Scheme. Our professional partnerships with internationally recognised training bodies help ensure that learners are receiving sufficient training in accordance with the government requirements.

Employer training a new Kickstart learner.

The Kickstart Scheme’s policy has recently changed, meaning that it is now even simpler for employers of all sizes to benefit from joining the scheme. This is because they have removed the limit requiring they create a minimum of 30 vacancies to apply directly. However, in accordance with government guidelines, businesses are still required to spend their £1,500 grants towards training their learners.

In collaboration with Inn Training and Strode College, we are working hard to create a range of options to help businesses deliver training to adult learners who are looking to build on their confidence, self esteem and interpersonal skills. Our programmes are well recognised qualifications, certified by Highfield International, and follow their respected curriculum.

Those implementing the Kickstart Scheme may be asked by the government to provide evidence of how each individual has gathered basic work skills, including timekeeping, teamwork, attendance, communication, and travelling to work. These skills will be incorporated into the training package and evidence will be logged into the E-Portfolio system for each candidate.

Our professional partnerships have the skills and knowledge to set up remote E-Portfolio systems for each candidate, ensuring that they can continue to learn under Covid-19 conditions, as well as ensuring all evidence is recorded.

Learners can also be given training on CV, interviews, job search process, in-work support, setting career goals and careers advice. This can all be provided as part of our support package.

They will be able to complete a minimum of 13 units of the program which have been specifically chosen to help with future employability of the individual, thus allowing each candidate to have significantly improved chances of employment.

Certified courses will include:

We can also include some more specialised units to each business at a small additional cost. This can be discussed upon request.

The total cost for the Personal Development for Employability training is only a third of the grant provided for each Kickstart candidate, meaning that businesses will still have £1,000 remaining per learner for other areas of development.

What are the benefits of our training and qualifications?

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment, of which the training is a vastly important element. It can not only help them in the short term during their Kickstart placement, but it also provides them with lifelong skills which can help them out of long term unemployment.

Our qualifications and training can help set them aside from other candidates in their future search for work, as our training covers and helps with the following:

  1. A good CV
First impressions count! The quality of their CV will immediately set a good impression thanks to their training from this course. In the ever growing competition for employment, this already will set them aside from other candidates.
  2. Confidence and communication
Confidence will allow learners to speak concisely and with clarity. Employees who communicate with confidence can convey what they want to clients and co-workers in a clear and efficient manner. Therefore, effective communication is critically important for career advancement.
  3. Timekeeping
Being on time shows that you are reliable, dependable, and that you can be trusted. It also shows that you are able to successfully organise and manage your time and is sought out by employers.
  4. Teamwork
Teamwork helps employees open up and encourage each other, creates a system to ensure that deadlines are met, and creates higher quality work. If one member of the team falls behind, another member is there to help out. When work is divided up among a team, it can be completed more quickly, making the overall business operate more efficiently.
  5. Well recognised, certified qualifications
Our qualifications follow the Highfield syllabus, a global leader in compliance and work-based learning qualifications and one of the UK’s most recognisable awarding organisations. They have received The Queen’s Award for Enterprise and the International Trade Award, so you can rest assured that your employees will be learning worthwhile skills.

Overall, these qualifications are aimed at learners wishing to gain further understanding of Personal Development for Employability. The content of the qualification is designed to be flexible for learners to achieve a variety of employment based skills.

If you are hiring via the Kickstart Scheme and are in need of professional training in order to fulfil the guidelines, please do get in touch. One of our friendly professionals will contact and guide you through the process.
