On Saturday 7th July, some of our staff took part in a Colour 5k in aid of our chosen charity of the year, Big C. Big C is a local cancer charity committed to improving the lives of those affected by cancer in Norfolk & Waveney.
The premise of a Colour 5k is simple, you run along a 5-kilometre route and after every kilometre, you collect a different colour. By collect, we mean you get paint thrown at you by the volunteer “colour bandits”. This colourful event combined with the July sunshine and the positive atmosphere made for a great day.
The participants were in for a difficult challenge though, runners set off at around midday where the temperatures reached as high as 26°. These were less than ideal running conditions as participants had already worked up a sweat before they even started!
Vicki Sadler, Head Receptionist at our Norwich office said “This was already a tough event, made tougher by the heat of the day. We all completed it tough, and I think I speak for us all when I say the whole experience was very rewarding and great for team morale.”
Charlie Maylin, Marketing Executive added “Taking part in the Colour 5K for Big C was great fun, but very challenging on such a hot summers day! I felt a great sense of pride knowing that I not only completed a personal challenge but that I raised money for such a fantastic cause.”
The team of just seven were able to raise over £1,000 for Big C, this money will go towards improving the lives of those affected by cancer across Norfolk & Waveney. Big C are making a difference locally by funding support, research, medical equipment and education.
This is the first fundraising event undertaken by staff this year, but by no means the last. The team look forward to doing their bit for Big C by fundraising through a variety of different events and activities.
